The arrangement of type involves selecting typefaces, point size, line length, line-spacing (leading), letter-spacing (tracking), and adjusting the space within letters pairs (kerning).

Job Title: Field Facilitator

Organization: ECOWICE (Environmental Conservation for Wildlife and Community Enterprise)
Location: Community field sites (e.g., villages surrounding Mikumi wildlife corridors)
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

ECOWICE works with communities living near wildlife habitats to promote human–wildlife coexistence, sustainable livelihoods, and environmental education. Our programs include elephant monitoring, alternative crops (such as sesame and passion fruit), beehive fencing, and youth environmental education.

Key Responsibilities

1. Community Engagement & Mobilization

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with farmers, community leaders, and local institutions

  • Mobilize community members for meetings, trainings, and project activities

  • Support formation and coordination of groups such as Elephant Monitoring Groups (EMGs)

  • Communicate project goals clearly and respectfully to community members

2. Field Activity Implementation

  • Support implementation of ECOWICE projects including:

    • Elephant and wildlife monitoring

    • Alternative crops (sesame, passion fruit, etc.)

    • Beehive fencing and livelihood activities

    • Environmental education activities

  • Assist with demonstrations, trainings, and follow-up visits

  • Monitor progress and report field challenges or successes

3. Data Collection & Reporting

  • Collect field data using mobile tools (e.g., KoboToolbox, smartphones)

  • Assist community members in proper data collection (photos, GPS points, forms)

  • Keep accurate records of activities, attendance, and observations

  • Submit regular field reports to the Project Manager

4. Environmental Education Support

  • Assist in delivering environmental education sessions in schools and communities

  • Help organize learning activities, demonstrations, and materials

  • Support youth and community awareness on conservation and coexistence

5. Coordination & Logistics

  • Support coordination of field schedules and activities

  • Assist with distribution and tracking of project materials (e.g., tools, seeds, forms)

  • Act as a first point of contact for field-level issues


Qualifications & Skills

Required

  • Diploma or certificate in environmental studies, agriculture, community development, education, or related field (or strong field experience)

  • Experience working with rural communities

  • Ability to communicate clearly in Swahili (English is an added advantage)

  • Willingness to work in remote field locations and walk long distances

  • Basic smartphone literacy (taking photos, GPS, mobile forms)

  • Honest, respectful, and community-oriented attitude

Preferred

  • Experience in conservation, agriculture, or NGO field work

  • Experience with wildlife or human–wildlife conflict projects

  • Familiarity with mobile data collection tools (KoboToolbox, ODK, etc.)

  • Knowledge of local villages and customs
