COWICE Participates in Human-Wildlife Conflict Stakeholder Meeting in Namtumbo
ECOWICE Participated in Human-Wildlife Conflict Stakeholder Meeting in Namtumbo
ECOWICE attended a stakeholder meeting held at the District Game Office (DGO) in Namtumbo
The meeting focused on addressing human-wildlife conflict and strengthening coordination among stakeholders working in Namtumbo District. Discussions also explored ways to reduce duplication of responsibilities and improve collaboration in promoting peaceful coexistence between people and wildlife.
Human-wildlife conflict is becoming an increasing concern in Namtumbo. While elephants have historically been the main conflict species, communities are now also facing growing challenges involving hippopotamuses and crocodiles. This situation highlights the urgent need for community awareness, practical mitigation measures, and stronger stakeholder cooperation.
The meeting brought together several conservation and development partners, including Honeyguide, ECOWICE, GIZ, WWF, PAMS, WMAs, CBTC Likuyu, Carbon Tanzania, TANAPA, TFS, and other government representatives.
ECOWICE remains committed to working with communities, government institutions, and conservation partners to support a future where people and wildlife coexist in harmony.
