Protecting Elephants and Empowering Communities:

Join Our Cause!

Like us, elephants need free movement from one area to another. When one location is unsuitable for their needs, they move to other places to find food, water, cover, or mates.

Elephants of Mikumi National Park typically move to other parks during the dry season or breeding season. Sadly, their movements often intersect human activities like farming, charcoal production, and grazing. The result is human/wildlife conflicts where elephants eat farmer’s crops, which reduces food,  potentially until the next growing season, and increases their poverty. The devastating loss of an entire year’s crop forces many to turn to charcoal production or illegal hunting, which increases deforestation and threatens elephants and other wildlife.

Sadly, farmers do not know the future impacts of deforestation and wildlife loss and are not exposed to sustainable sources for making a living.

For the past eight years, ECOWICE has been working with the community adjacent to Mikumi National Park to find sustainable sources of income and food while educating them and their children on environmental conservation. We have supported more than 500 farmers and 285 school children, but we still need to reach more families to have an impact on both people and the planet.

The two-pronged approach to providing immediate economic support and looking to the future

We aim to raise $6,590 to support 60 farmers to improve their beekeeping enterprises and 23 artisans.  This support will increase their income by 50%.

We will engage 58 school children with environmental education opportunities to learn about pollinators by establishing a pollinator garden at their school and providing drinking water for kids.

Your support can significantly impact these communities' lives and our planet's preservation.

Together, we can impact the lives of elephants, communities, and the planet.

Join us in creating a sustainable future for all. Donate today and be a part of the change!
